Q: Game crashes when launched from Steam library

Launch the game via REDprelauncher.exe (found in the game folder) instead of the Steam library. Delete or rename the .settings files in Documents\The Witcher 3 to reset configuration. Add the launch option --launcher-skipcheck to Steam to bypass the launcher check. Disable the Steam overlay in the game settings or Steam client. Run x64/witcher3.exe (DX11) or x64_dx12/witcher3.exe (DX12) directly from the game folder. Verify or clear the shader cache in D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\shadercache\292030 to fix possible corruption.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an open world action role playing game by CD Projekt Red set in a dark fantasy, war ravaged continent overrun with monsters. You play as Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster hunter on a contract to find his adopted daughter Ciri, the Child of Prophecy whose powers can reshape the world, all while dealing with political turmoil and supernatural dangers. The game features extensive exploration, real time combat, character progression, and branching storylines driven by player decisions. The Complete Edition includes the base adventure of over 100 hours plus the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions that add roughly 50 more hours, along with all released additional content, a photo mode, extra swords and armor, and outfits inspired by The Witcher Netflix series.
