Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how BugFreeGG (the "Service", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with your use of our website and related services.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, you should not use the Service.

The Service is primarily an information and discovery tool for game bugs and related fixes.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information in connection with your use of the Service:

1. Information You Provide to Us

When you interact with the Service, you may voluntarily provide:

  • Contact information – such as your email address and optional name, when you submit a message through our contact form.
  • Message content – the subject and body of your message, including any information you choose to include (for example, game name, bug description, or URLs).
  • Game context – optional fields such as the game ID or game name when you contact us about a specific game.

2. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, certain information may be collected automatically by our servers and infrastructure providers, such as:

  • Usage data – information about how you interact with the Service, such as pages viewed, search queries, filters used, and interactions with bug reports and solutions (for example, upvote actions).
  • Device and technical data – such as browser type and version, operating system, language preference, and approximate geographic region based on IP address.
  • Log data – standard web server logs that may include your IP address, request URLs, timestamps, and referrer/headers, collected for security, diagnostics, and operational purposes.

3. Local Storage, Cookies, and Similar Data

The frontend uses certain browser storage mechanisms to support core functionality:

  • Session storage – used to store your consent to view adult content for the current browser session (for example, a flag indicating that you confirmed you are 18+).
  • Local storage – used to remember which bug solutions you have upvoted on your device (for example, a key such as game-explorer:votedSolutions). This is used to prevent duplicate voting from the same browser and is not tied to a personal account.

4. Information from Third-Party Sources

The Service aggregates and analyzes externally sourced content, including:

  • IGDB (Internet Game Database) for game metadata and catalog data.

This content may include game metadata and other information that IGDB makes available to developers. Such data is obtained and stored as part of our indexing and analysis of games and related information. Your use of IGDB remains subject to its own terms and privacy policies.

How We Use Information

We use the information described above for the following purposes:

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including indexing, curating, and presenting game bug reports and solutions.
  • To respond to your inquiries and provide customer or technical support when you contact us.
  • To prevent abuse, detect fraudulent or automated activity (for example, spam submissions to the contact form), and maintain the security and integrity of the Service.
  • To understand aggregated usage patterns, such as which games or types of bugs attract more interest, and to prioritize improvements to the Service.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Service uses a limited set of browser storage mechanisms primarily for functionality and user experience:

  • Session storage to remember your adult content confirmation for the duration of your browser session.
  • Local storage to remember which solutions you have upvoted so that we can prevent duplicate upvotes from the same browser.
  • First-party cookies to remember your cookie consent choices and, where applicable, sidebar or layout preferences.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC) to understand how visitors use our website (e.g. pages viewed, traffic sources, approximate location). This helps us improve the Service. Data collected via Google Analytics is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising purposes.

Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga (duration: 2 years), _ga_* (session/session state), and _gid (duration: 24 hours). You can accept or reject analytics cookies via our cookie consent banner and change your preferences at any time.

We do not use third-party advertising trackers or behavioral advertising cookies (such as cross-site ad networks) as part of the Service.

You can control or delete cookies and other local storage through your browser settings. Disabling these features may affect certain functionality (for example, your layout preferences, adult content consent, or persisted upvotes).

Third-Party Services

We rely on third-party services to provide, host, and enhance the Service. These may include:

  • Infrastructure and cloud services – the Service is hosted and run on infrastructure provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS processes data on our behalf (e.g. hosting, databases, content delivery, logging) solely to operate the Service. AWS acts as a data processor for such processing. For more information, see AWS Privacy Notice.
  • Analytics – if you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics (Google LLC) to analyze usage of the website. See the "Cookies and Tracking Technologies" section above for details.
  • Data providers – IGDB (Internet Game Database) for game data.
  • Email and communication providers – our contact form is integrated with an email delivery service (such as Amazon SES), and your contact details and message content are processed by that provider solely for the purpose of delivering and managing communications.
  • Monitoring and logging – standard server logs and cloud provider tools may be used to monitor performance, availability, and security of the Service.

These third parties are generally authorized to process data only as necessary to provide their services to us and are subject to contractual and/or legal obligations regarding data protection, confidentiality, and security, as applicable.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information as described below:

  • Service providers – with hosting, infrastructure, analytics, and communication providers that process data on our behalf in order to operate the Service.
  • Legal and compliance – where we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests; to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Service, our users, or others; or to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues.
  • Business transfers – in connection with any merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, information may be transferred as part of the transaction, subject to continued protection consistent with this Privacy Policy.

Data Storage and Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect the information we process against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures may include:

  • Use of reputable cloud infrastructure and managed databases.
  • Access controls and role-based permissions for administrative tools.
  • Best-practice configuration of database connections and network security.
  • Encryption in transit (such as HTTPS/TLS) when data is transmitted between your browser and our servers.

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law (including, where applicable, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA")), you may have certain rights regarding your personal information.

GDPR / EEA / UK Residents

Where GDPR applies, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Request erasure of your personal data, in certain circumstances.
  • Request restriction of processing or object to processing, in certain circumstances.
  • Request data portability, where technically feasible and applicable.
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence or workplace.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

Where the CCPA (as amended by the CPRA) applies, you may have the right to:

  • Request to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Request deletion of personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your CCPA rights.

To exercise any of these rights (where applicable), please contact us using the details in the "Contact Information" section below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request and may be unable to fully comply where legal exceptions apply.

Because the Service currently does not use user accounts, some rights (for example, detailed access to or deletion of device-bound local storage such as upvote tracking) may require you to manage data directly through your browser or device settings.

Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

  • Contact messages may be retained for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and for a reasonable period thereafter for record-keeping, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
  • Aggregated bug report and solution data may be retained indefinitely as part of the core functionality of the Service.
  • Local browser storage (cookies, session storage, and local storage) will persist on your device until they expire or you clear them via your browser settings.
  • Server logs may be kept for a limited period for security and operational purposes, and may be archived for legal or compliance reasons.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or any higher minimum age required by applicable law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details below so that we can take appropriate steps, including deletion where required by law.

Because the Service may display mature or adult game content, access for minors is subject to additional age confirmation dialogs, and we encourage parents and guardians to supervise their children's use of online services.

International Data Transfers

Our infrastructure and third‑party service providers may be located in different countries. As a result, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have data protection laws different from those in your country of residence.

Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms) to ensure that transfers of personal data outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK provide an adequate level of protection.

By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries where our servers and service providers are located.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors.

When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the bottom of this page. In some cases, we may provide additional notice (such as a prominent notice on the website).

Your continued use of the Service after changes to this Privacy Policy become effective will signify your acceptance of the updated Policy.

Operator and Data Controller

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, the operator of the Service and the controller of personal data shall mean Indigocode Mateusz Kaczmarek, with its registered office in Poznań, at Bożydara 47, 61-607 Poland, NIP (Tax Identification Number): 9721301630, REGON (National Official Business Register Number): 383656436.
