Elden Ring is a dark fantasy action RPG from FromSoftware and Bandai Namco in which you play a customizable Tarnished exploring the vast open world of the Lands Between to restore the shattered Elden Ring and claim the title of Elden Lord. Journey on foot or horseback through seamlessly connected open fields and intricate multi level dungeons, facing hidden threats, powerful foes, and monumental bosses. Combat is accessible yet deep, letting you combine a huge variety of weapons, spells, summons, armor, items, and stealth to suit your preferred play style. Built on challenging Souls style mechanics, the game features dynamic exploration, rich lore, complex characters, and a mythic backstory crafted by Hidetaka Miyazaki with world building by George R. R. Martin. You can adventure alone or alongside a large online community, summoning allies for co op or engaging in invasions, duels, and Colosseum battles across its interconnected world.

Use a Proton build that supports descriptor heaps and enable both required descriptor heap environment variables before launching the game.
Disable Wayland by setting PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=0 in the game's launch environment when playing via Steam.
Add the kernel parameter split_lock_mitigate=0 in GRUB and disable the intel_pstate driver to use a more stable CPU scaling driver.
Run cpupower frequency-set -g performance in a terminal to force the CPU to stay in the performance governor while playing.
